A working meeting between the Mayor of Chalki, Mr. Evangelos Fragkakis, and the President of the Green Fund, Mr. Ioannis Androulakis, on the continuation of the substantial discussion on the possibility of financing the project of repopulation of the old settlement of Chorio on Chalki.
The meeting was held in a very positive and productive atmosphere, confirming the will for close cooperation and the exploration of available financial tools, with the aim of maturing and promoting a project with a significant developmental, social and environmental footprint for the island.
The repopulation of Chorio is a strategic priority of the Municipality of Chalki, as it is directly linked to:
the protection and promotion of cultural heritage, the enhancement of the demographic sustainability of the island, the promotion of soft and sustainable forms of development,
the use of green and innovative interventions that respect the natural environment.
The effort continues with consistency, institutional dialogue and documented planning, with the aim of transforming a historic settlement into a living cell of sustainable development and social cohesion.
