It is with great pride that the Municipality of Chalki announces two important distinctions of the island’s students, which highlight the high level of knowledge, creativity and extroversion of the new generation.
The students of Chalki Senior High School achieved a very important success in the Panhellenic Student Competition for Robotics, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship titled “Biznovation Challenge”, winning 2nd place with their innovative project “Smart AC Controller”.
Their creation is a smart air conditioner control system that combines cutting-edge technology with energy savings and protection for residents. Through sensors and connection to the Arduino Cloud, the system monitors indoor and outdoor temperature, limits energy waste based on the 10°C rule, while detecting gas leakage and fire, offering increased safety, especially for elderly people living alone.
This success is the result of a substantial and creative effort, which was implemented with the support of the Robot Academy robotics laboratory of Mr. Dimitris Angelis and Mrs. Smaro Kampouraki, as well as the Municipality of Chalki, which actively supports innovation, knowledge and creativity of the island’s youth.
At the same time, another top international distinction was achieved in the field of Drone Soccer, where a student of Halki won the gold medal in the Teens category, among 32 teams from all over the world.
The team consisted of the student of Chalki Senior High School M.A. and his teammate S. I. of Robot Academy , achieving an outstanding performance in a challenging and innovative competition that combines technology and sport.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the mission and to their teachers Mrs. Elpiniki Tsomaka and Mr. Michalis Chatzantonis, who accompanied and supported the children throughout the competition to achieve these great successes that fill Chalki with pride and optimism.
These distinctions prove that the new generation of Chalki has talent, vision and the power to create and excel at national and international level, highlighting our island as a dynamic cell of innovation and progress.
