The Municipality of Chalki represented Greece in year 2025 at the most important international event for smart and sustainable cities, Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, which takes place in Barcelona from November 4 to 6, 2025.
Greece participates with the Greek Innovation Pavilion, curated by Enterprise Greece and the Pleiades Innovation Ecosystem, presenting the collective vision for the transition of Greek cities and islands towards smarter, more sustainable and resilient communities.
The Mayor of Chalki, Mr. Evangelos Fragkakis, was a speaker at the Greek Pavilion program (Hall 3 – Stand B145) on Tuesday, November 4, 12:00–13:00, presenting the vision of Chalki as the first GR-Eco Island and the emblematic actions that have turned the small island of the Dodecanese into a model of sustainable development, energy transition and digital innovation.
The participation of Chalki in Barcelona is a great national honor, as the island represents Greece on the leading global stage for “smart cities”, promoting internationally a Greek model of island sustainability and collaborative innovation ecosystems.
With this participation, the Municipality of Chalki strengthens its role as an ambassador of the Greek islands and the green transition, actively contributing to Greece’s international narrative as a single innovation ecosystem.
