Completion and update of four (4) Emergency Response Plans by the Municipality of Chalki

The Municipality of Chalki announces the completion and updating of four (4) Emergency Response Plans, substantially enhancing the level of preparedness, prevention and protection of the local community against natural hazards and emergency phenomena.

Specifically, the following Civil Protection Plans have been completed and updated:

“DARDANOS 2” – Emergency Response Plan due to the occurrence of flood phenomena

“VOREAS 2” – Emergency Response Plan and immediate/short management of the consequences of snowfall and frost

“ENCELADUS 2” – Emergency Response Plan from the occurrence of seismic phenomena

“IOLAOS 2” – Forest Fire Emergency Response Plan

The Plans have been prepared and updated in accordance with the current national institutional framework of Civil Protection and take into account the particular geographical, social and operational conditions of the small island Municipality of Chalki. They include clear roles and responsibilities, operational procedures, as well as protocols for action and coordination of all stakeholders involved.

The elaboration and the second updated version of the Plans (November 2025) was carried out in collaboration with the Kapodistrias Institute, confirming the firm will of the Municipality of Chalki to invest in prevention, scientific documentation and the organized response to the effects of the climate crisis.

In the context of the delivery, an informative action and a preparedness exercise were carried out, in the presence of the CEO of the KAPODISTRIAS INSTITUTE, Mr. Raptodimos Dimitrios, with the active participation of the employees of the Municipality of Chalki, as well as executives of the Hellenic Army, the Hellenic Coast Guard, the Hellenic Fire Service and the Hellenic Police. The exercise aimed to test mobilization processes, upgrade operational coordination and improve the effectiveness of all actors involved in the event of a crisis.

The Municipality of Chalki continues to consistently shield the island, ensure the protection of citizens and build a modern and functional Civil Protection system, based on planning, cooperation and operational readiness.
