Church of Agios Nikolaos

The Church of Agios Nikolaos is an imposing church located in Nimborio. It is distinguished by its beautiful black-and-white pebble-mosaic courtyard and its magnificent bell tower. It should be noted that the bell tower was constructed using marble from the ancient Temple of Apollo and is the tallest bell tower in the Dodecanese. Inside the church, there is a small ecclesiastical museum. The church celebrates the feast of Agios Nikolaos on 6 December.
Church of Panagia Choriani

The Church of Panagia Choriani is a charming chapel situated above the abandoned Chorio. Inside, visitors can admire its beautiful frescoes. The major feast of Panagia Choriani, held every 15 August, “awakens” the soul of the island’s former capital, which has lain in ruins since the 19th century.
Monastery of Agios Ioannis (Alarga)

The Monastery of Agios Ioannis of Alarga is a beautiful monastery located in one of the most remote areas on the western side of Chalki. It offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. It is possible to stay for one day in one of the monastery’s cells, following prior arrangement with the ecclesiastical committee. The island’s largest traditional celebration takes place at the monastery on 28 August.
Monastery of Archangel Michael Panormitis / Palarniotis

The Monastery of Archangel Michael Panormitis / Palarniotis is located on the hill of Agios Onoufrios, near Chorio. The geometric patterns of the pebble mosaic in the monastery’s courtyard are an authentic example of Dodecanese art. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy panoramic views and observe the small islets surrounding the island of Chalki.
