The Mayor of Halki, Mr. Evangelos Fragkakis, welcomed the European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Mrs. Katarína Mathernová, to the island; she chose to visit Halki during her stay in Greece.
During the meeting, the initiatives and innovative programs implemented by the Municipality of Chalki were presented, with particular emphasis on GR-eco Islands, which serves as a model of sustainable development and green transition for European islands.
At the same time, there was a substantive exchange of views on current European challenges, as well as on the work and role of the European Union in Ukraine.
The meeting was also attended by Maya Tenoshvili from Chalki, who serves as Policy Coordinator at the Embassy of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine.
The visit reaffirms Chalki’s ongoing outward-looking approach and the island’s recognition as a benchmark for innovation, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
